Tim

Throughout my life, I’ve gained a variety of qualifications, a Psychology Degree, a Diploma in Dance, a Postgraduate Diploma in Education and a Film Diploma. Weaving its way through all this is a theme of movement. I started dance classes as a six-year-old, had a 12-year career as a professional dancer, taught in an international school and worked in the non-profit sector with a focus on systems change.

What has become more and more evident is that art has application and value in all fields of life. It is integral to life itself, it is a way for us to communicate, interact and understand the world around us.

Being creative is both an action and a skill that I have spent a lot of time researching, thinking and experimenting with. While teaching I wrote on the subject and shared through an educational blog. I believe it is a skill that needs to be explicitly taught in our educational institutions and private and public sectors. In a world that is being automated and now with the rise of AI, we need to differentiate ourselves and hone our innate ability to produce novel ideas.

For workshops implementing arts and creative thinking into business environments visit shapecutter, which addresses the intersection of business and art.

My creative work still has the body and movement as the central theme whether that be through film, video installations, projection mapping or digital collages. It is inescapable and the further I have tried to move away from it the more I end up nestled in it.
