Frame by frame
BASIC ANIMATION
3 day stop-motion course for 8 - 12 year olds
Participants will learn the fundamentals of stop-motion techniques, including frame-by-frame shooting, character design and storytelling. The 3 days accumulate in a mini-festival watching all their short film creations.
Students will
create a character from a toy figure
plan and storyboard an animation project
learn principles and experiment with stop-motion techniques
develop skills in timing, movement, and storytelling
edit animations, adding sound effects and music to bring stories to life
This course is designed to spark imagination and teach young people how to start thinking creatively and critically.
By the end of the workshop, each participant will have completed their own stop-motion short film, showcasing their creativity and newly acquired skills. This hands-on experience is perfect for aspiring animators and creative minds looking to explore the art of stop-motion film making.
If possible, we ask participants to bring a phone and/or computer. The course is designed for participants to work in small groups to create their projects - collaborating.
Toy figures will be supplied but participants are welcome to bring any item from home they might wish to work with.
